Like fashion, websites can go outdated. Even though the old website looked great and served its purpose, I wanted something new and fresh for 2010.

Like fashion, websites can go outdated. Even though the old website looked great and served its purpose, I wanted something new and fresh for 2010. So I spent a good part of my Christmas holiday visualizing a new and more modern website. I had in my mind what I wanted, my main requirements were as follows:

1. Clean and Uncluttered

Having a website neat and well organized is extremely important. A messy website, like a messy home, can be very uninviting. I wanted to give visitors a "spa" experience. Calm, relaxing and zen. Spending some time in the beginning to organize the layout of the website could really save you a lot of headaches later on.

2. User Friendly

I wanted a website that is so easy to navigate that even my grandma would not get lost. Menus and links should be visible, well placed and logical. This basically allows visitors to find the information that they are looking for easily.

3. A Blog

Everyone has a blog. I didn't have a blog in the old website. So it was definitely something I wanted to include in the new one. A blog is much more than just an online diary for everyone to see. It is one of the most important communication tools that you have for your visitors (and potential clients).

4. A Photo Gallery

Since this is a photo related website offering photography services, having a photo gallery to showcase our photos is of course very important. There are many galleries available but I think it is crucial to have one that is not overloaded with fanciness. Visitors will get bored quickly waiting for photos to load. So a gallery that loads the images quickly is most important.

I will continue to improve the website as I go along. For now, everything seems to be working. Happy New Year and I hope that you will stop by again!
